Research Description:
The NCI-Designated Cancer Center at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla California is seeking an established (mid-level or senior) investigator with a vibrant research program in cancer immunology or a related field, to serve as Director of the Tumor Microenvironment and Cancer Immunology (TMCI) Program ( Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) innate and adaptive immune responses to tumors, effects of the tumor microenvironment on tumor-immune system interactions, mechanisms of immune evasion and novel strategies for immunotherapy.

In addition to running a research lab, the Program Director will oversee and coordinate the activities of the TMCI Program. This will involve working closely with other members of the Cancer Center Leadership to drive collaborative initiatives within and between scientific programs at the Institute. The Program Director will also represent the Program at administrative and strategic planning meetings, and report on Program activities to the leadership and scientific advisory board. In addition, the Program Director will identify areas for scientific development and help drive recruitment of new faculty in those areas. Finally, the Program Director will oversee the scientific and career development of the faculty within the Program, and mentor junior faculty members to help them achieve their scientific and academic goals.
